The three papers which appear in this monograph were presented at a symposium for isiZulu writers and newspaper editors convened by The Centre for Advanced Studies of African Society (CASAS) at the Coastlands-On-The Ridge Hotel, Musgrave in Durban, South Africa on 28th August 2014. The purpose of the symposium was to conscientise newspaper writers and editors about the advantages of using the unified standard orthography for Nguni languages that was developed by CASAS in 2003 and revised in 2013. By design, the papers were written and presented in isiZulu, isiNdebele and siSwati by Prof Sihawukele Ngubane, Dr Langa Khumalo and Dr Gloria Malambe and Dr Jessie Furvin respectively. All the three papers present pedagogical and economic advantages of using the unified standard orthography for Nguni languages.
